Easy Index Generator creates configurable HTML and HHC files of Contents for any files types, which can be used in CHM (HTMLHelp) and eBooks, as DataCD menu, as sitemap of your website with access to HTML pages, graphics, media files, shared documents, applications etc. You can specify which types of files will be indexed and sort the items by moving them up and down, creating logical sections.
The same time you can select one of existing four output file types:
1. As a single HTML file with the list of the indexing files;
2. As frameset consisting of a HTML file of the frame structure and the HTML file of contents. These present the hierarchy of files in the left frame so you can view their contents in the right frame;
3. As HHC (HTML Help Contents) File, which is used in CHM (HTML Help) files;
4. As a combination of HHC and a single HTML file of contents with placing of generated HTML file in the beginning of HHC list.
Easy Index Generator can create two types of tree menus of indexed files in a target HTML file: static menus and click-to-open menus. In static menus all sections are displayed as simple text, and all items — as simple links. When user clicks on a static menu item the linked page opens.
Click-to-open tree menus are the type used in Windows Explorer for displaying folders — they open when clicked, and remain open until clicked again. This kind of menu allows you to sort items in different logical sections, which display their contents when user clicks on a section link. You don't need to do any javascript programming; the software does all the work.
The program allows user to set different options not only to operate creation of an index file(s), but also to diversify functionalities of the program.
Generated files are automatically placed in the indexing folder.
